Dr. Jane Greenberg: IOrg Senior Associate Researcher

IOrg is pleased to announce that Dr. Jane Greenberg, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, has agreed to become IOrg’s first senior associate researcher, in which role she will visit with us each semester for two years to engage in conversation, colloboration, advice, and in general to assist IOrg with its research program.

Jane Greenberg is professor at the School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and director of the Metadata Research Center. She is also a senior associate researcher with the Information Organization Research Group (IOrg) in the School of Information Studies, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a senior scientist at the National Evolutionary Synthesis Center (NESCent) in Durham North Carolina. She is the PI for the HIVE initiative, a coPI for the Dryad repository project, and a senior researcher on the U.S. Datanet Federation Consortium DataNet. Jane Greenberg has served on the Dublin Core Metadata Initiative’s (DCMI) Advisory Board since 2005 and serves as the 2012-3013 chair for the ASIST/SIG/Classification Research Group. She co-leads a number of efforts, including the DCMI Science and Metadata community, the Research Data Alliance (RDA) Metadata Standards Directory Working Group, the DataONE Preservation and Metadata Working Group (PAMWG), and the CODATA Data at Risk Working Group.
